The InWall Theater System 20 THX is our top of the line in-wall, THX Ultra certified grouping. It's comprised of two exceptionally sophisticated speakers whose lineage traces directly to our highly regarded System 370 THX. What's more, the System 20 LCR front satellite and System 20 SR Dipole/Bipole surround were developed as elements of a fully integrated home entertainment speaker system, created to provide exemplary movie and music reproduction. They blend superbly with each other and with other Atlantic speakers, including our award winning center channels, surround speakers, and subwoofers. The System 20 THX will effortlessly fill large rooms with amazingly natural sound. An Atlantic THX Ultra certified subwoofer, to provide powerful, articulate bass reproduction, is all that's needed for a complete multi-channel THX speaker system.
The Great Wall ... of Great Sound
Time for a reality check. An accurate speaker is an accurate speaker. It doesn't have any idea whether it's reproducing movies or music. Essentially then, there should be little difference between a home theater and pure music system. And that's precisely the case with System 20 THX. These speakers are equally adept in any type of home sound system and with any type of source material.
Truth be told, sound quality is a secondary concern when many companies design their in-wall speakers. Far more effort goes into their visual design and ease of installation. But we1ve gone way beyond the ordinary to ensure that System 20 THX delivers the kind of accurate sound we1ve become famous for. We carefully maximized every technical advantage offered by in-wall mounting and minimized every problem area during the design process. After all, we believe the goal of home theater isn't to place you in the movie theater, it's to place you in the movie. To do this the speakers must create a new "sound space" in your room. Whether it1s the jungle or The Jetsons, we want you caught up in the experience.
The System 20 LCR is essentially an in-wall optimized version of our 371 LR satellite speaker. It delivers superior sound quality and dialogue intelligibility while becoming almost invisible in your room. It's arguably the first in-wall speaker (and certainly the most affordable) capable of competing with high end enclosed systems. Its flexible mounting system, and its rotatable, tiltable D1Appolito array, lets it deliver optimum performance in practically any room.
Stick'em Up. You're Surrounded!
The System 20 SR is called a surround speaker because that's what it does - it surrounds you with the environmental sounds of the scene taking place on the screen. No matter whether in Dolby Surround®, Dolby Digital®, DTS®, or any other format, the surround speakers are most often there to deliver non-localizable environmental sonic cues.
The horizontally mounted System 20 SR offers a unique combination of benefits. It delivers true Dipole surround performance, and yet, thanks to it minimum footprint design, fits easily into a standard 2 x 4 studded wall! Each System 20 SR consists of two sets of matched drivers - in essence it is two speaker systems. In Dipole mode these two systems operate "out of phase" with each other. The speaker's sound radiation pattern is similar to an infinity symbol (¤), sweeping along the wall to each side. There's a distinct null or "dead zone" centered directly in front of the speaker which is in turn centered on the seating area. When properly placed and balanced, this creates a large, diffuse, non-localizable, and enveloping sound field that draws you into the action. Should you have an installation in which Dipole operation might be difficult, the speaker can easily be switched to Bipole operation.
What Exactly is THX?
THX started as a series of standards and technologies developed by Lucasfilm Ltd? (of Star Wars fame) for commercial movie theaters. It was created to ensure that the picture and sound you experience in the theater, as closely as possible, matches what the director heard and saw during the final mix-down of the film.
A set of THX standards and technologies for home theater systems were created to bring the same level of performance into people's homes. THX is the first truly comprehensive set of performance standards in the history of high fidelity audio. The THX standards include enhancements and requirements for dispersion characteristics, frequency response, distortion, sensitivity, output levels, proper surround field generation, and in-room subwoofer performance. Using THX certified components enhances every type of viewing and listening experience, including the latest discrete multi-channel digital formats. (Please note that THX is not a format that must be decoded like Dolby Digital® or DTS®.)

* The Mid-High assembly can be detached and rotated for best performance, horizontally or vertically. It also may be tilted 5 degrees up or down to further optimize sound quality.
* Front mounted High Frequency and Midrange Level controls allow precise adjustment of the speaker's sound in any room.
* An optional rear enclosure provides ideal volume for the woofer and limited isolation for the adjacent room.
System 20 SR
* System 20 SR is a Frequency Enhanced Dipole. It operates as a Monopole from 200Hz down, thereby eliminating the Dipole's tendency to cancel its own bass output. It is a true wide range speaker, fully capable of taking advantage of the latest Digital multi-channel formats.
* A front mounted switch changes the System 20 SR to Bipole mode.
* The System 20 SR fits in standard "two by four", sixteen inch on-center wall construction

* Both speakers feature computer optimized 18dB/octave crossovers with air core inductors.
* Input connections are made with gold plated, heavy duty spring loaded terminals that will accept up to 8 gauge wire, banana plugs, or connector pins.
